Beginning January 3, 2012, Penguin Encounter, Friends of the Wild, and Antarctic Market Restaurant will be closed to make way for the new expansion projects, opening 2013.

In addition to that, Journey to Atlantis will be closed for refurbishment from January 2 to January 24, 2012 for annual maintenance, while Wild Arctic will be briefly closed "for conversion from THE POLAR EXPRESS Experience" from January 2 to January 6, 2012.
